‘Counting’ by Kiddom

‘Counting’ App by kiddom

Areas for child development:-

Develops skills of one to one correspondence as it promotes touch counting. Kids touch and can move the objects while counting.

Touch Counting

Sorting skills / making sets

Children have to count a certain item, within a group of other items. I love that this encourages set making and sorting. I love that the pictures are not always the same. Eg: when asked to count the buckets children are provided with a range of sizes and colors.  This leads the pathway towards sorting for sets with more than one criteria eg: count the small pink buckets, or the large grey buckets.

Sorting Skills

Sorting Skills

Number recognition

Children have to click on the numerals to answer the question of ‘how many?’

Mathematical Language

The ‘owl’ teacher uses simple mathematical expressions the children become familiar with.

Cognitive / Memory skills

As the game progresses the children have to remember a sequence of more than one instruction.

Listening skills / independence / concentration / following instructions

The program demonstrates a holistic approach to education, developing multiple skill sets at one time. I love that the game can be played independently by my students. This really boosts their confidence and self esteem.

Children love the cartoon / game like feel to the learning activity and also the fun characters in the story. The encouraging words form the owl teacher are super confidence boosters too. A great App for any parents or teachers App collection.
